Kanaka Hana

Welcome to Kanaka Hana,"the worker."  This is the blog that is All abOut Hana!

Right now this blog is about the Beta of Hana.  After Hana 1.0 launches, maybe as early as the Release Candidates, this space will become filled with reviews of Web-apps, hints, tips & tricks and other neat things about Hana.

So hang loose and hang out!

Psst...

Check this out about a new version of Hana being out...

And this for an even NEWER version!

Hana 1.1.1

Hana 1.1.1 is ready for download!  Check it out by downloading it via the Check for Updates... item in the Hana application menu.

This blog will not be updated after this.  Well, not at this location!  A new Kanaka Hana blog has been created and can be found here.

Almost there...

Hana 1.1.1 is done.  It is being tested and the new web resources are all done and up and being reviewed.  Release should be very soon...

I had hoped to release tonight, but it is getting late.  So I will give it some face time tomorrow and hopefully get it out to you tomorrow night (30 January.)

Thanks for your patience!

Quick update...

I have been busy adding some new stuff and bug fixes to 1.1 and hope to have 1.1.1 to you soon.  Some of this stuff is behind the scenes stuff, some not so much.

Tomorrow is Cocoa Coding Night here in St. Louis.  This is the night we Mac geeks in the Gateway area get together to geek out together.  On my agenda is getting the new Help file built into Hana and the dead end help buttons pointing at actual content!  (Sorry about those!)  1.1.1 will be mostly done then.

[UPDATE: 25 January 2008]

So I did get some help file work done, but one of the things I forgot to mention is that I am moving this blog and the Hana Web App Directory to a sub-domain here and trimming out all of the AOS look and feel.  This blog is already opened in its own window in 1.1, and it looks a little goofy to you, my totally awesome customers to see a huge BUY button right there!  Sorry about that!  Anyway, that is all easy enough to do.  The Web App Directory though is flawed and that is one of the big changes.  I have the page mostly done, but building the new hana:// protocol links is time consuming.  So I created a simple javascript page to help automate making Web App Links.  What is cool about this is that after 1.1.1 goes out and I can get back to it...let me tell you about life!...I plan to clean it up a bit and publish it so that Web-App vendors can use it to build their own hana:// links.

Anyway, once the new web app directory is done and I get the help file integrated we should be close.  Soon, I promise!  :-)

Thanks for using Hana!  We greatly appreciate the support and your feedback.

Hana 1.1

Hana 1.1 is available for download!

So what is new in Hana 1.1?  LOADS!

We added a toolbar, status bar, new preferences, loads of bug fixes and a bunch of minor bug fixes.  Some big bug fixes too!

Two bug fixes that missed the release notes.  First, hana:// links meant to add web-apps to Hana NOW work IN Hana too!  This was an embarrassing oversight!  Second, the progress wheel code was causing massive error logging operation on Leopard users' systems.  This is why you will notice that this is now missing from Hana 1.1.  We plan to add this back in the future.

Got lots to do still, 1.1 was going to include some changes to the Hana web pages, we will get those done as quickly as possible and get 1.1.1 or 1.2 out as soon as we can!
